How Do I Install KONTAKT?

STEP1

Create or Log into Your Native Instruments Account

Before you can install Kontakt, you need to have a Native Instruments account.

  1. Visit the official Native Instruments website: https://www.native-instruments.com.
  2. Click on “My Account” in the top-right corner.
  3. Log in if you already have an account, or click “Sign Up” to create a new one.

Do I need a Native Instruments Account?

Your Native Instruments account is where your product licenses are managed, including Kontakt and its libraries.

STEP2

Download and Install Native Access

Native Access is the central hub for downloading, installing, and managing all Native Instruments software.

  1. Go to the Native Access Download Page.
  2. Download the installer for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
  3. Open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install Native Access.

Once installed, launch Native Access and log in using your Native Instruments account credentials.

STEP3

Register Your Kontakt Serial Number

If you’ve purchased Kontakt as a standalone product or as part of a bundle like Komplete, you will receive a serial number. Here’s how to register it:

  1. Open Native Access.
  2. Click on the “Add Serial” button at the top-left of the window.
  3. Enter the 25-digit serial number provided with your Kontakt purchase.
  4. Click “Add” to complete the registration.

STEP4

Install Kontakt and Its Libraries

Once your product is registered, you can proceed with downloading Kontakt and any associated libraries.

  1. In Native Access, go to the “Library” or “Not Installed” tab.
  2. Locate Kontakt in the list of products.
  3. Click the “Install” button next to Kontakt.
  4. Wait for the installation to complete. The download size can be large, so ensure you have a stable internet connection.

STEP5

Activate Kontakt in Your DAW

Once Kontakt is installed, it will be available as a plugin (VST/AU/AAX) in your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).

  1. Open your DAW (e.g., Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase).
  2. Open the plugin manager or scan for new plugins.
  3. Load Kontakt as a virtual instrument on a MIDI track.
  4. If prompted, log in to Native Access to verify your license.

 






Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you run into any problems, here are some quick tips:

  1. Kontakt Not Showing in DAW: Ensure your DAW is set to scan the correct plugin folder where Kontakt is installed.
  2. Installation Failed: Verify you have enough disk space and a stable internet connection.
  3. Library Not Found: Use Native Access to reinstall or relocate the missing libraries.
  4. Outdated Native Access: Make sure you’re running the latest version of Native Access.
