Ways of loading Kontakt patches, and what to do if the missing files window occurs.
WAYS OF LOADING A KONTAKT PATCH
Using the Library Tab: If your library is compatible with the Kontakt Library tab, you can easily add it through the Native Access application and then load it directly from the Libraries tab within Kontakt.
Using the Files Browser: Navigate through your computer’s file system within Kontakt to find and load individual Kontakt patches (.nki files). This method works for both libraries that are formatted for the Libraries tab and those that are not.
Click “Load…” from the Files menu in Kontakt
Using the Quick Load Catalog: You can add your most commonly used instruments, multis, and banks to Kontakt’s Quick Load catalog for faster access. Right-click in the Kontakt window to access and manage your Quick Load settings.
Dragging and Dropping: You can drag .nki files from your file explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) directly into Kontakt’s interface to load them.
KONTAKT MIDI CHANNEL
If you’re not hearing any sound, first ensure that the MIDI channel your keyboard is transmitting on matches the MIDI channel set in the Kontakt Instrument.
SUPER SIMPLE. NO FURTHER INSTALLATION IS NESCESSARY
A typical folder-structure for a Kontakt Library from Wrongtools :
Problem loading kontakt libraries:
If Kontakt is having difficulty locating the files, executing a “Batch Resave” is necessary. This process significantly improves loading speeds and ensures everything is correctly installed.
To initiate a Batch Resave, open an empty Kontakt instance, go to File > Batch Resave, and confirm the action in the dialog that appears. Next, direct Kontakt to the folder where your collection is stored to begin the resaving of patches.
Should a “Missing Samples” dialog emerge, simply redirect Kontakt to the collection folder once more.
It is advisable to carry out a Batch Resave following each update of your library.
Securing the Downloaded Files
Once you have successfully unzipped the collection, there’s no need to keep the compressed files within the collection folder. We advise saving them in a safe place for any future reinstallations. It’s important to note that we cannot assure the indefinite availability of re-downloads for purchased collections.
Best Practices
Keep Organized: Maintain a consistent folder structure for your libraries to minimize issues.
Backup: Regularly backup your libraries and their respective file paths.
Update Paths: If you move your libraries, update the paths in Kontakt and your DAW to reflect the new location.
