Clavinet and guitar pickups

The electromagnetic pickup is composed of a coil that surrounds a magnetic core. When the string vibrates, it alters the magnetic flux passing through the core, which in turn generates an electrical signal in the coil. Electric guitars  are equipped with at least two pickups, and clavinets usually have three. Positioned at various points along the string, these pickups capture different intensities of the string’s harmonic vibrations.
