Instead of hammering with traditional zither hammer, we used thin long wooden sticks. A playing technique that is probably only possible in a sample library because of the small distance between the strings.
We found that when struck with thin mallets, the zither strings produced an unusual, distinct sound, and had long resonance.
Combined with close-mics, the sound is sparkling and full of bright overtones and treble. (which is something we have missed in other zither libraries)
