The Silk Rhodes is two Fender Rhodes pianos in one Kontakt library. A 1975 Mark I that we plucked, bowed and struck until it gave up sounds you don’t normally hear from a Rhodes. And a 1981 Mark II, sampled note by note with 16 velocity layers and 3 round robins. One is strange. The other is obsessively honest. Both are warm, mellow and a little bit silky.

NOV 2026 : The library has nearly doubled in size.
We recently were blessed with an unused beauty – a 1981 Fender Rhodes Mark II.
We recorded it one note at a time. Then we did it again. And again. We ended up with 7 hours of individually recorded edited single-notes, after chopping.
That became a new patch with 16 velocity layers and 3 round robins, which is kind of a lot.
Most of the attention went to the softest touches, the area where a Rhodes is most alive and most samples fall apart. And to the small differences between repeated notes, because a real Rhodes never plays the same note the same way twice.
The patch is called “Rhodes mrk2 affair”. You’ll understand why when you play it.
PRESENTING THE LATEST UPDATE, NOVEMBER 2026
2,570 samples of a 1975 Mark I, played with fingers, sticks, bows and cloth instead of the keyboard. With a physical connection to the tines, a completely different instrument appears.
A single master nki patch called the “Rhodes mrk2 affair” that holds 2,275 samples. 16 velocity layers. 3 round robins on every note.
