Osmosis is a cinematic cello ensemble Kontakt library created for film scoring, game composer tools, soundtrack production, ambient music, modern classical composition and experimental sound design. Explore emotional string samples, evolving cello textures, atmospheric strings, organic bow movement, cinematic sample libraries and creative virtual instruments for Kontakt.

We have worked with these musicians on several occasions, and has developed and experimented with how to create something that we find inspiring. So it’s a personal kaleidoscope of articulations that we personally have been searching for, and use in our music. 

Osmosis captures the fragile movements, evolving tones, and organic waves of cellos interacting. : turning acoustic performances into deep cinematic landscapes.

With the five mic positions, it’s easy to blend naturally with other instruments. 

Composing with sampler instruments is more than just triggering sounds; it’s about uncovering the character and possibilities within each patch, all while responding to the musical moment as it unfolds. The sounds of these cellos can lead you onto paths that you didn’t know existed in your music.

If you stick to a step-by-step approach, you’ll learn the mechanics, sure—but that’s just the surface. On the other hand, if you dive in and start improvising, you’ll discover not just how the instrument works, but what it can do. And what are the strengths of each patch.

The way you play becomes intertwined with the music the instrument naturally wants to create.

It’s like a conversation where both you and the sampler-instrument have a say. The sounds suggests a path, you respond, and together, you shape the music.

Rather than mimicking orchestral realism, Osmosis embraces usable unusual lively contemporary cello timbres. Its “pendulum” patches fade between articulations, while its Sculpturing Engine lets you warp and morph sounds—creating evolving drones, pulsing textures, and cinematic ambiences.

The core reason is to ensure optimal gain staging and ample headroom within your digital audio workstation. When individual patches come in at a lower default level, it prevents accidental clipping (digital distortion) on your bus sends and master output, particularly when you’re layering many instruments or adding processing. This approach gives you full control to blend our sounds seamlessly into your mix without fighting “hot” signals.
