From Haunted stingers to soaring bowed pitches, eerie textures and disturbed percussion

IDEAL FOR COLORING PERCUSSION TRACKS AND FOR SCORING TO PICTURE

The timbres emanating from these instruments include colorful hits and strikes, spooky bowed pitches, and subharmonic friction coos.

We found that longer wires and rods will give more overtones when the stem is struck with metal beaters. And more bass resonance when the construction are struck with softer beaters.

Haunted stingers with spooky metal bows, eerie textures and disturbed percussion. Perfect for use in any media needing a tense & frightening  underscore. This Kontakt library features recordings of a variety of metallic sculptures and objects. From colorful hits to soaring bowed pitches.

We first stumbled upon the idea when we visited an art museum and came across a massive metal sculpture that was designed to be played like a musical instrument. The artist had placed mallets on the sculpture, allowing visitors to create their own rhythms and melodies.

We were immediately struck by the reverberant and dynamic sounds that were produced by the sculpture.  The objects in question were built from a variety of metal parts, including wires, springs, steel rails.

With contact mics we also got sounds of a more ambient subharmonic nature. Thanks to a combination of LOM GeoFon og AKG C411PP microphones, weird atmos as well as raucous  sounds from the deepest cores were captured. We used a variety of techniques to create different sounds, including striking the sculptures at different points with sticks and mallets, bowing them with rosined bows, and rubbing them with various materials to create friction sounds.

Filmcomposers and sound designers that are seeking branches of a more experimental metal nature, will  find some goodies in here.
