Fjordheim Drums is a sampled vintage drum set, performed by the Norwegian drummer Børge Fjordheim.

The drumkit he played on, was a Rogers Holiday drum set, from 1968.

Drum kits produced by Rogers Drums, particularly popular during the 1960s are known for a clear, resonant, and often “vintage” tone that made them favorites in various genres, from jazz to rock.

While the “Holiday” model name appeared across different periods, the most desirable vintage kits are generally from the 1960s, often identifiable by “Cleveland tags” (pre-1966) or “Dayton tags” (post-1966, after CBS acquired the company).

Fjordheim Drums is exceptionally versatile. Its organic and natural sound makes it an super alternative for cinematic scoring, especially for scenes requiring an authentic, unhyped drum sound. It’s also really really bunkers for folk, indie rock, singer-songwriter tracks, and any genre where a natural, “live” drum feel is desired. Its dynamic range allows it to sit comfortably in both sparse and dense mixes.

Absolutely. Fjordheim Drums provides comprehensive mixing control. You have independent faders for close mics on each drum (kick, snare, toms), overheads, and multiple room microphone positions. This allows you to sculpt your drum sound with precision, from a tight, punchy close-up sound to a wide, expansive ambient feel, just as you would with a real drum recording.

The drums sound great straight out of the box, but if you want you can tweak mostly everything.

The core samples in Fjordheim Drums are captured with a focus on natural responsiveness, ideal drum-mics and mic positions and minimal processing. Our goal was to provide you with high-quality, “mix-ready” sounds that still offer plenty of headroom for your own creative processing. While they sound fantastic right out of the box, you have the flexibility to apply your favorite external EQs, compressors, and reverbs to perfectly tailor them to your mix. This approach ensures maximum versatility for different musical contexts.

WAYS OF LOADING A KONTAKT PATCH :

• Using the Library Tab: If your library is compatible with the Kontakt Library tab, you can easily add it through the Native Access application and then load it directly from the Libraries tab within Kontakt.

• Using the Files Browser: Navigate through your computer’s file system within Kontakt to find and load individual Kontakt patches (.nki files). This method works for both libraries that are formatted for the Libraries tab and those that are not. 

• Click “Load…” from the Files menu in Kontakt

• Using the Quick Load Catalog: You can add your most commonly used instruments, multis, and banks to Kontakt’s Quick Load catalog for faster access. Right-click in the Kontakt window to access and manage your Quick Load settings.

• Dragging and Dropping: You can drag .nki files from your file explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) directly into Kontakt’s interface to load them.
